Arthritis Society Canada is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and supported by Board Committees.
The Board of Directors is comprised of seasoned leadership volunteers from across the country who meet quarterly to oversee the governance of the organization and bring significant professional experience and insight to our work. This includes approving the organizational strategy, budget and financial statements, ensuring sound policies are in place and overseeing the areas of risk and compliance.
Our Board of Directors acts with the highest integrity and in the interests of people living with arthritis and contributes tremendous knowledge and expertise to support the achievement of the organization’s goals.
Our Audit & Finance Committee and our Governance & Nominating Committee, compromised of Board members, support and inform the work of the Board.
Arthritis Society Canada is proud to have the work of its Board and Executive recognized by the Governance Professionals of Canada in both 2020 and 2021.
In 2021, we received an Excellence in Governance Awards in the Risk Management category. In 2020, we were recognized in Governance Professional of Canada’s Excellence in Governance Special Edition in two categories, Enterprise Risk and Crisis Management and Innovation and Resilience in Governance.

A volunteer advisory committee, the Integrated Science and Medical Advisory Committee, provides expert advice to the Chief Science Officer on strategic directions and priorities for Arthritis Society Canada's research, information, support tools and resources.
