Arthritis Advice: Mindfulness

Arthritis Advice: Mindfulness

Mindfulness meditation or simply mindfulness is an activity that recognizes the powerful connection between the mind and body and how that connection can be used when faced with stress.

Research has shown that the regular practice of mindfulness can have positive effects on overall well-being, anxiety, depression and pain.

Our brain is like a computer. It can get bogged down with too much sensory data.  Mindfulness can decrease the clutter of what pulls at our attention, creating more room to think more clearly.

In this Arthritis Advice video, Arthritis Society social worker Margaret Smit-Vandezande explores how mindful meditation can help you cope with the challenges of a life with arthritis.
