Dr. Lihi Eder
Dr. Eder is Clinician-Scientist at Women’s College Research Institute and Associate Professor of Medicine, University of Toronto, Canada. Dr. Eder has a broad background in rheumatology with specific training and expertise in clinical epidemiology and imaging of psoriatic arthritis and cardiovascular diseases in rheumatic patients. She is Director of the Psoriatic Arthritis program at Women’s College Hospital and co-Director, University of Toronto, Cardio-Rheumatology Program, an interdisciplinary program that aims to improve the management of cardiovascular morbidities in rheumatic patients by developing novel models of care and through research and educational activities. Dr. Eder was awarded Canada Research Chair in Inflammatory Rheumatic Diseases (2021-2026) for studying barriers of equitable care in rheumatology including the role of sex and gender as determinants of disease outcomes.
Arlaina Waisman, RD
Arlaina has worked in many areas as a Registered Dietitian, ranging from acute care, long term care, community, and over 10 years at GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre with a focus on spinal cord injuries. In 2006 Arlaina joined the OASIS (the Osteoarthritis Service Integration System) program at Vancouver Coastal Health as the Dietitian Educator, supporting clients and staff.
Arlaina has had experience working with various forms of arthritis throughout her career. From working as an outpatient RD dealing with multiple food allergies and intolerances to working on the arthritis unit at GF Strong. Since 2006, Arlaina has been providing a variety of nutrition classes for people suffering with osteoarthritis. These interactive sessions are designed for people to make improvements in what and how they eat to ultimately feel better living with a chronic condition. The focus expanded to include various forms of arthritis in 2018. Since the pandemic started, Arlaina has been providing sessions on zoom. Now classes are being done both virtually and in person.
Arlaina is married with two daughters now in university. In her spare time, Arlaina likes to spend time with her mature father, walk her 12 year old labradoodle and Havapoo puppy, does yoga, loves to explore different cuisines and cultures, and runs a business in the food industry.
