Nancy Hopkins’ Action for Arthritis

Raising funds for childhood arthritis in Saskatchewan

Childhood arthritis steals milestones and precious moments from far too many young people in Saskatchewan and beyond.

In Canada, 25,000 children (3 in 1,000) are affected by arthritis. It robs them of their youth and can lead to a lifetime of agony, costly treatments and invasive surgeries. The cause of childhood arthritis remains a mystery, meaning prevention strategies are unknown.

Together, we can change that.

And yes, there will be cake! Because of course there will be cake. Nancy’s signature “eat cake for breakfast” motto reminds us to seize life’s joyful moments early — something children living with arthritis are often denied. This event is your chance to help give those moments back.

Nancy is challenging you to give generously and raise $100,000 with her for innovative research and to ensure that children in Saskatchewan receive the essential care and support they need.

At Arthritis Society Canada, we know that research is the key to unlocking answers for children living with arthritis—one of the most common chronic childhood diseases. While some effective treatments exist, not every child responds the same way. More research is urgently needed to discover which treatments work best for each child, and when it’s safe to stop them.

Yet despite the growing need, arthritis research remains significantly underfunded—receiving just 2% of all available research dollars in Canada.

That’s why investing in childhood arthritis research is so critical—and why Nancy is challenging you to give generously and help raise $100,000 alongside her. Your support will fuel groundbreaking research and ensure that children in Saskatchewan receive the expert care and support they deserve.

Together, we can drive discovery, advance personalized treatments, and reduce harmful side effects. And together, we can break the myth that arthritis only affects older adults.

Dr. Alan Rosenberg

Let’s change the story for children living with arthritis—starting today.

You’ll also hear from Dr. Alan Rosenberg, a leading voice in childhood arthritis, whose research project – funded by Arthritis Society Canada – is helping to transform the future for these children and generations to come.

Every donation made is a direct investment in a pain-free future for thousands of children.

When we harness the power of community coming together, we will push the boundaries of what’s possible to build a brighter future and end arthritis.

Together, let’s surpass our goal of raising $100,000 and create lasting change to bring hope to children in Saskatchewan living with arthritis.
