Our Marketing & Communications Team:  

Our talented Marketing & Communications team is made up of creative professionals with subject-matter expertise in disciplines including corporate communications, media relations, digital engagement, social media, graphic design and writing. They showcase and increase awareness of our critical cause and the incredible work we do, tell impactful stories and ensure arthritis is positioned as a top 5 health concern.

Purpose of Role:

Reporting to Director, Marketing & Technology, the Digital Content Specialist position is a key role in the implementation and maintenance of Arthritis Society Canada’s online paid and organic content, working to engage and grow audiences. Duties include analyzing data, identifying trends in audience interactions, creating social calendars, planning and executing digital campaigns, and developing compelling copy and images. The incumbent will have the skills to produce eye-catching visual content as well as strong writing skills to share both marketing copy and news content. 

The Specialist will work collaboratively with the broader Marketing & Communications team to achieve the vision and goals of Arthritis Society Canada and also support the creation and execution of social media for the Executive Team (President & CEO, Chief Development Officer, Chief Science Officer and Chief Operations Officer).

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Deliver engaging, persuasive copy and content for targeted audiences across various channels. This could include but is not limited to: paid and organic social, website and search optimization, marketing collateral, blogs, social reels.
  • Develop and execute a consistent approach to organic and paid social content, maintaining relevant content calendars.. 
  • Conduct SEO and trend analysis to enhance the online impact of content being created, including increasing organic reach. 
  • Create rich media assets (photo, video, audio in Adobe Creative, Canva, etc.) as needed to support impactful content across social, ads, and email.
  • Collaborate with the Design team to bring our brand to life and enhance our online visual appeal. 
  • Support the creation and execution of a research-informed, metrics-focused social media plan for the Executive Team.
  • Create social media and digital advertising in support of campaigns, events and strategic goals.
  • Facilitate the translation process of content (primarily French).
  • Work with internal team colleagues and/or external service providers on social plans and execution of deliverables.
  • Build and extend reach of Arthritis Society Canada’s social media channels.
  • Monitor the organization’s brand on social media while managing online conversations across social and key online platforms.
  • Manage our online communities to ensure respectful and appropriate engagement.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Manager, PR and Media, build engage relevant influencers.
  • Analyze data (using platforms and Google Analytics) to determine whether digital campaigns have achieved their objectives – identify successes and opportunities.
  • Create helpful materials that will advise employees across the organization on the best methods for creating digital content, with a focus on SEO. 
     

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • University degree in web management, marketing, advertising, or business administration, or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the private/public sector including 5 years of direct work experience as a website/online communication/social media manager.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual (French & English) language skills an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of and experience with organic and paid content strategies and execution for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and other social media best practices.
  • Understanding of SEO, SEM and web traffic metrics.
  • Ability and experience creating assets to support social content – video, graphics, audio – using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.
  • Experience conducting audience and buyer persona research and developing and/or working with user journey.
  • Good understanding of digital KPIs and reporting.
  • Familiarity with web design and publishing.
  • Excellent understanding and familiarity with integrating brands into online properties.
  • Experience integrating social media strategies and execution within larger integrated marketing and communications efforts (i.e., advertising, event activations, contests, direct mail, media relations, etc.) Demonstrated proficiency in Internet marketing techniques, technologies, and solutions.
  • Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines. 
  • Adept at learning new technologies and tools.
  • Energetic, self-motivated, and results oriented.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Politically and culturally sensitive.

Working Conditions 

  • Your position is Designated. This means you will work at least 2 days a week from our Toronto office and the rest of the days remotely/from home. The exact days you are required to work from our office will be determined by your supervisor. This will include in-person meetings, events, retreats and other opportunities to connect and collaborate.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as need be.
