Arthritis Society responds to the federal budget

Trish Barbato, President and CEO

We welcome the announcement of a new Innovation and Investment Agency in yesterday’s federal budget.

Supporting research and innovation in health care is how we will find new treatments, inventions and ultimately cures for conditions like arthritis that affect the lives of millions of Canadians. We look forward to hearing more details about the new agency.

As we move ahead on new initiatives, we can’t lose focus on the health challenges we continue to grapple with across the country, including surgical delays and long wait times. We need to deliver better health outcomes and encourage all levels of government to collaborate. The broader health ecosystem – including patient groups – must be included in those conversations as we move towards action.

The Arthritis Society is ready to bring innovative ideas and outcome-focused solutions to the table and we look forward to opportunities to provide input.
