TORONTO – Arthritis Society Canada has been recognized among Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures™ by Waterstone Human Capital for accelerating impact and performance through its culture.

Each year, Waterstone surveys thousands of organizations and awards those corporations and CEOs that most successfully foster cultural excellence based on enhanced performance and competitive advantage. Arthritis Society Canada was one of 10 winners recognized nationwide in the Broader Public Sector category. The organization was first recognized in 2019.

“Arthritis is not what you think it is,” says Trish Barbato, President and CEO of Arthritis Society Canada. “Six million Canadians face the disease. More than half are under 65, including a shocking number of youth and children. It’s painful, devastating, and there is no cure. Our culture is driving impact for those six million Canadians.”

“At Waterstone we believe corporate culture drives performance and that it’s your organization’s single greatest asset,” says Marty Parker, President and CEO of Waterstone Human Capital and Chair of the Canada’s Most Admired™ program. “The 2022 award recipients demonstrate that putting culture at the centre of your strategy drives growth and accelerates performance. They actively craft high-performance cultures that drive extraordinary results and serve as an inspiration for others who want to do the same.”

Arthritis Society Canada’s employees make an impact every day and are instrumental in creating an organization that is bold and innovative. We have:

  • showcased and funded entrepreneurs to find solutions for people living with arthritis through our Arthritis ldeator Awards™,

  • launched Ignite Grants to fund breakthrough, high-risk, high-reward research,

  • mobilized the country to drive fiery advocacy, taking our message to key influencers so people get faster diagnosis and better treatment now,

  • rewarded employees for fresh ideas through our Employee Innovation Challenge, and

  • launched Community Action Grants to support local initiatives that are helping people with arthritis.

Adds Barbato, "We built our values collectively by involving every employee nationwide, a process that itself was a unifying force for our organization. United, impactful and transformative, we are proud to be trailblazers in our sector.

“Our people are our greatest asset and are the force that will make a difference for the six million Canadians living with arthritis.”
