For the six million people in Canada living with arthritis, activities like going for a walk, catching up with friends or gathering with family can be unimaginable. The pain of the disease can be so debilitating that it prevents people from fully engaging in life’s joys.

Arthritis researchers are driven to find solutions that will help those living with the agony of the disease. They’re constantly exploring new and better ways to diagnose, treat and prevent arthritis, with the ultimate goal of finding a cure.

At Arthritis Society Canada, we value research. We are committed to supporting arthritis researchers throughout their careers, including at the very beginning. That’s where the Arthritis Society Canada Research Stars Fund comes in – and if you donate before March 1, 2025, your gift will be matched, dollar for dollar, to help set researchers up for success!

With donor support, we have helped launch the careers of over 1,000 research trainees and early-career scientists. One researcher we’ve recently funded is Dr. Pascal Tétreault.

A researcher at the Université de Sherbrooke, Dr. Pascal Tétreault has focused on relieving back pain triggered by arthritis. Using non-invasive imaging techniques, his team studied the brains of patients who received specific treatments. They hope to find unique features present only in the structure and function of the brains of patients who respond to a given treatment customized for each individual.

Exciting work like this could be a game-changer, potentially leading to tailored treatments that offer much-needed pain relief to patients.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Your gift is tax deductible as per your local regulations, as we are a tax-exempt organization. We will email you a donation receipt. Please keep this, as it is your official record to claim this donation as a tax credit.
When can I expect my receipt?

Donations of $20 Canadian or more are eligible to receive a receipt. If you make your gift online, you will receive an electronic receipt via email on the same day. If you make your gift over the phone or by mail, your receipt will be sent to you via email or mail approximately two weeks after your donation is processed.
