Arthritis affects people of all ages—stealing moments, independence, and mobility. Here in Nova Scotia, the reality is especially critical with 1 in 3 people—the highest prevalence of arthritis in Canada—living with this painful, chronic disease.
Since 1989, Arthritis Society Canada has celebrated local heroes who have created lasting positive change. This year, we’re proud to honour the Honourable Stephen McNeil, 28th Premier of Nova Scotia.
But don’t Stay the Blazes Home for this one, because guests will enjoy a night of laughter, gourmet food, and an exciting auction and raffle. And of course, the chance to celebrate someone who has spent his career listening to, fighting for, and leading Nova Scotians.

About Stephen McNeil
The Honourable Stephen McNeil has dedicated much of his life to serving Nova Scotians with conviction and resilience, both as a small business owner, and a politician. And that commitment combined with his humility, resilience, and unmistakable Maritime spirit, make him one of the province’s most respected and admired leaders. Stephen’s legacy extends well beyond politics and business. He is known for his authenticity, sharp sense of humour, genuine relationships, and steadfast belief in giving back to the communities that have shaped him. His support of the East Coast Roast is a great example of that humour and generosity, and we are honoured to have him as our roastee.

It offers a safe, inclusive, and fully accessible camp experience with on-site medical care and trained counselors. Campers connect with peers who understand their unique experiences, build confidence, and learn to manage their condition. It’s more than camp—it’s a life-changing experience.
