Mobilize Canadian researchers for the next breakthrough

Arthritis affects more Canadians than diabetes, heart disease, cancer, stroke and dementia combined. Without action, it will strike 9 million people by 2045 — up from 6 million today.

Arthritis isn’t slowing down. Yet, in these challenging times, research funding is at risk in Canada. When funding falls short, critical arthritis research slows down. Promising studies stall. Innovation is delayed. And the hope of a pain-free future slips even further away.

We can’t let that happen. With your help, we can keep Canadian-led arthritis research moving forward.

For a limited time, every dollar you donate will be DOUBLED to fund urgent, life-changing arthritis research in Canada.

Please give now to help Canada lead the way — mobilizing Canadian researchers for the next big breakthrough, bringing us closer to cures.

Why fund arthritis research?

Why fund arthritis research?

Each year, more than 100,000 joint replacements are performed in Canada, yet over 20% experience complications or dissatisfaction.
Dr. Matthew Teeter at Western University is working to improve the success of hip and knee replacements so more people can move freely and live comfortably.

Thanks to donors like you, we are on the brink of an exciting breakthrough. Dr. Teeter’s research examines how gut bacteria, inflammation, and immune cell reactions impact joint replacement outcomes. His work could lead to more personalized treatments, reducing pain, preventing complications, and helping more patients avoid repeat surgeries.

FAQ

Arthritis impacts the lives of six million of our loved ones, friends and neighbours. It is Canada’s most common chronic condition, yet it rarely gets the attention it deserves. That’s why Arthritis Society Canada is on a mission to change the conversation and let the world know it’s not “just” arthritis.

Fortunately, we’re fueled by a community of generous, loyal supporters who share our commitment to fighting the fire of arthritis with the fire of research, innovation, advocacy, and information and support.

About Arthritis Society Canada

Arthritis Society Canada is dedicated to extinguishing arthritis.

Donor support is critical because without action now, the number of people in Canada living with arthritis will soon grow to nine million.

Our donors are heroes, providing essential funds to accelerate our efforts and bring us closer to finding better treatments and, ultimately, a cure. We thank each of our everyday heroes, who share our vision of ending the agony of arthritis.

Our promise to you: Arthritis Society Canada is committed to honouring your generosity and using it in the most effective way. If funds raised exceed the amount required for the designated purpose, Arthritis Society Canada, acting reasonably, may allocate the donation towards the organization’s highest priority needs.
