September is Arthritis Awareness Month. It’s a time to raise awareness about the impact of arthritis on the lives of 6 million Canadians, dispelling myths about this misunderstood disease and shining a light on the real people living with arthritis.

It's also the perfect time to give. Thanks to a generous donation from the O'Sullivan Family, all gifts will be matched up to $75,000 — and not only in September, but through to October 12!Join us by making a donation!

Jim Barbato Story

Jim was an accomplished surgeon. He dedicated his life to healing others and was at the pinnacle of his career. But at age 52, osteoarthritis took over Jim’s hands. Struggling, in unbearable pain Jim had to make the heart-wrenching decision to leave his beloved profession. The very hands that had skillfully performed surgery were now betraying him.

Isabelle Robillard Story

Isabelle’s experience with arthritis speaks to the challenges of so many. In her early 40s, the severity of her knee flares reached the point where walking became impossible. She endured the frustration of bouncing from clinic to clinic, undergoing numerous scans and MRIs until she was finally diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis — nearly 30 years after the onset of her symptoms.

Maddie Watts Story

Maddie is a vibrant 21-year-old who, while still in high school, woke up one day to excruciating back pain. After months of tests, she was diagnosed with a rare form of osteoarthritis that affects her spine. Maddie went from an unstoppable force and an avid skier to one of the millions of Canadians whose independence, dreams and passions are stolen from them.

About Arthritis Society Canada

Arthritis Society Canada is dedicated to extinguishing arthritis.

Donor support is critical because without action now, the number of Canadians living with arthritis will soon grow to nine million.

Our donors are heroes. Donations provide essential financial support for initiatives like research that bring us closer to finding better treatments and, ultimately, a cure. We thank each of our everyday heroes, who share our vision of extinguishing arthritis.

Our promise to you: Arthritis Society Canada is committed to honoring your generosity and using your donation in the most effective way. If funds are raised in excess of those needed to support the designated purpose, Arthritis Society Canada acting reasonably may designate the donation towards the highest priority needs of the organization.
