Dark chocolate is considered a functional food because it contains health-promoting components like flavanols, including epicatechin, catechin and procyanidins. Studies have shown that these compounds have high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
"Cacao" originates from the ancient Mayan word "kakaw." Early colonial documents indicate that indigenous communities used cocoa flowers to alleviate fatigue.
Not only can cocoa help regulate the intestinal microbiota, promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria that activate anti-inflammatory pathways, but it is also a good dietary source of magnesium, copper, potassium and non-heme iron.
This yogurt bark treat combines dark chocolate with berries, which are known to boost your mood and bring a smile to your face.
