SAJA (Systematic Approach to Joint Assessment)

Welcome to the Arthritis Society Canada’s Systematic Approach to Joint Assessment (SAJA). A joint count is performed by a clinician to assess the degree and severity of disease activity that a patient living with arthritis may be experiencing by testing for an effusion, tenderness and ROM at each joint. The information gathered helps guide treatment decisions from both a pharmacological and non-pharmcological perspective.

The video is organized by chapters. You may view the video as a whole to see the entire joint count or you may select single chapters to see a single joint test. We hope you enjoy this learning tool created by our AREP (Arthritis Rehabilitation and Education Program) Team.
