Volunteer LogoOur Special Events & Fundraising volunteers run many community fundraising and awareness events.

Volunteers are needed to drive all aspects of event leadership, as well as helping organize and assist on event day with registration and logistics.

About the role

A Special Events & Fundraising role is a great opportunity to help the Arthritis Society raise vital funds to support our research, advocacy and solutions initiatives. These volunteers contribute in crucial ways by helping with the organization and leadership of local and national events and other fundraising initiatives and are often at the very frontline of our work with people affected by arthritis.

Some examples of a Special Events & Fundraising role at the Arthritis Society:

  • Join your local committee for one of our community events
  • Provide event day support
  • Help lead the planning of local fundraising and awareness events, such as our Gala (Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver)

  • Support the Arthritis Society’s mission by helping us raise vital funds
  • Meet people affected by arthritis and become part of your local Arthritis Society community
  • Develop transferable employment skills related to event management and fundraising
  • Develop time-management and communications skills
  • Give back to the community and impact those living with arthritis
  • Use and develop specialized skills and talents while contributing to the Society’s mission
  • Build connections and be part of a community, and receive ongoing opportunities, training, and mentorship
  • A letter of reference can be provided at the completion of the volunteer term

We have Special Events & Fundraising roles available across Canada, at both a local and national level.

At the Arthritis Society, we do our best to offer flexible roles that can be adapted to suit the needs and availability of individual volunteers. The exact time commitment of all positions will depend on many factors including the volunteer position being filled, your schedule, and the Arthritis Society’s needs. Most positions are flexible. For example, you can volunteer on the day of an event, or you can help us on a more ongoing basis by joining a local event Committee. We do ask our volunteers to commit to a term or season of work with us to enable them to see projects to completion and for all parties to see the full benefit of this volunteer partnership.
