We’re celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Celebrity Roast with an unforgettable evening led by the legendary broadcaster, Steve Murphy. Join us for a cocktail reception and stay to savour the gourmet three-course meal. This year, our guests will enjoy a renewed edition of the Roast through a poignant celebration of our past 30 years, recognizing previous courageous Roastees and the impact our alumni have made through their involvement. Take part in our spirited live auction, get inspired by stories of strength and resilience, and be part of an exciting event helping to drive meaningful change for Atlantic Canadians living with arthritis.

And what’s a roast without a generous dose of side-splitting comedy? That job will be covered by Atlantic Canada’s own, Shaun Majumder!

But wait! That’s not all. This year, there’s a new addition to the Celebrity Roast: Afterglow! Don’t miss this fantastic after party to continue the celebrations and networking opportunities.

About the Celebrity Roast

Photo of the 2023 Celebrity Roast - People watching the roasteeFor 30 years, the Celebrity Roast has brought together friends, family and business associates to celebrate the achievements of our community members with a little fun and laughter.

Funds raised from the Celebrity Roast help to support on-going research, programs and the search for a cure; they also support Camp JoinTogether – a six-day overnight summer camp at Brigadoon Village for Atlantic Canadian children living with childhood arthritis.

Entertainment

Steve Murphy

With a television and radio career spanning more than forty-five years, Steve Murphy is among Atlantic Canada’s best known broadcasters. Over the course of his career, he anchored thousands of newscasts and interviewed some of the most influential and interesting people of our time. He stepped down as anchor and executive editor of CTV News at Six in December 2021 and is now a special correspondent and commentator for the station. His previous works include Live At Five: The Story Behind Its Success and Before the Camera: An Autobiography.

Shaun Majumder

In a few short years, Gemini Award-winning actor/comedian Shaun Majumder has blossomed into one of Canada’s top comedians. As a former cast member on This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Majumder provided viewers with a volatile mix of parody, sketch comedy, and scathing editorial commentary. Equally at home on stage as he is in front of the camera, Majumder’s incessant wit never ceases to entertain.

Majumder is proud and honoured to have joined the prestigious list of comedians who have performed at the renowned Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal and hosted numerous CBC Just For Laughs television specials. His feature films include Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, The Ladies Man, Pushing Tin, Purpose, the Farrelly Brothers’ Fox comedy Unhitched, and Bob Funk.
