2022 Arthritis Ideator Awards<sup>TM</sup> event - people in a room, sitting and watching, listening to the speaker Imagine if bringing arthritis innovations to market had no obstacles. If brilliant ideas were not limited by funding and infrastructure. Imagine if we could drive transformational change by helping entrepreneurs and scientists get their ideas to the people that need them most – as quickly as possible. 

We don’t have to imagine anymore because Arthritis Society Canada has embarked on a bold new innovation strategy that will drive this much-needed change. As part of this strategy, our Arthritis Ideator Awards^TM inspire innovators, entrepreneurs and startups to think differently, and be creative, fearless, and equally bold as they work to solve the challenges of living with this painful and debilitating disease that impacts 1 in 5 Canadians and has no cure.

2022 Arthritis Ideator Awards<sup>TM</sup> winners and judges This annual event awards a total of $200,000 to four of the brightest game-changing ideas that will help transform and improve the lives of Canadians living with arthritis. A panel of distinguished judges and VIP attendees gather at Toronto’s MaRS Discovery District to hear the pitches and select winners for the $50,000 Arthritis Ideator Grants. Last year, at our inaugural event, these innovations and advancements ranged from assistive devices, to technology that can help people better manage their disease.

Our 2023 Ideator Awards will be hosted by Canadian Sports Broadcaster, Rod Black.

Meet the Judges

The judges will select three projects to each receive $50,000 to advance their innovation. An additional $50,000 People’s Choice Award will also be granted to one of the lucky finalists.

Parking

The MaRS underground lot can be accessed via Elizabeth Street, just south of College Street on the west side of the road. It can also be accessed via University Avenue when driving northbound, just past the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, south of College Street. Substantial additional parking is available at a host of parking garages and above ground lots within a two- block radius

Transit

Subway: MaRS offers direct access to the Queen’s Park subway station, with connecting service to Go Trains at Union Station.

Streetcar: The eastbound and westbound College Street streetcars (506 Carlton) stop directly outside MaRS at the intersections of College Street and University Avenue, as well as College Street and Elizabeth Street.
