Arthritis Society Recognized Among Canada’s Most Admired Corporate CulturesTM Trade

Investments in Research and Innovative Programming Transform Health Charity

TORONTO – The Arthritis Society was today recognized among Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures™  by Waterstone Human Capital. Each year Waterstone surveys thousands of organizations (canadasmostadmired.com) and awards those corporations and CEOs that most successfully foster cultural excellence based on enhanced performance and competitive advantage. The Arthritis Society was one of 10 winners recognized nationwide in the Broader Public Sector category.

“As a national health charity, the core of our mission is to support the health and well-being of the more than 6 million Canadians living with arthritis,” said Arthritis Society President and CEO Janet Yale, “In practice, that means we work hard from bottom to top and right across the country to build a culture of action and impact – whether that’s in the more than $200 million we invest in groundbreaking research or the innovative energy we bring to developing programming that generates reach, relevance and results.”

“At Waterstone we believe corporate culture drives performance and that it’s an organization’s greatest asset,” said Marty Parker, President and Chief Executive Officer of Waterstone Human Capital and Chair of Canada’s Most Admired™ CEO Awards. “What’s remarkable about this year’s group of winning organizations is their commitment to corporate culture and their success in leveraging that culture as a competitive advantage. They each set a high bar when it comes to building great, high performance cultures that ultimately drive organizational growth and power the performance of their teams.”

In recent years, the Arthritis Society has worked tirelessly to modernize itself, adopting and utilizing technology to engage more than 60,000 Canadians each year, creating new research initiatives that leverage Canadian Institutes of Health Research partnerships and funding and serve as the voice of patients in advocating for important change in key public policy areas such as access to medicine, shorter wait times for joint replacement, and medical cannabis.

“This recognition is a testament to the commitment and skills of the many people we employ and the thousands more who volunteer their time,” emphasized Arthritis Society Chief Operating Officer Cheryl McClellan. “Our workplace culture hasn’t come about by accident: it is the ongoing product of harnessing the efforts of a dynamic, strategic, talented and focused team nationwide who are committed to making a real and lasting difference in the lives of people with arthritis.”
