Our Revenue Development Team:

Our revenue development team is made up of talented fundraising professionals across Canada, in the areas of major giving, direct response, annual giving and corporate, who work closely with our community of generous loyal donors to turn shared visions, passions and interests into meaningful impact in fighting the fire of arthritis. We are a national charity with local impact, and the donation from these individuals makes a difference for people living with arthritis in every province.

Purpose of Role: 

Arthritis Society Canada is actively looking for a student, currently enrolled in a study program, to join our team as a full-time summer intern from May to September. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Development Communications, the Coordinator, Donor Relations will contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of strategic donor engagement, cultivation, stewardship and recognition activities and initiatives.

The Assistant, Donor Relations will support the revenue development team in creating comprehensive donor communications pieces including thank you letters, impact reports, proposal templates, additional writing assignments, and provide Raiser’s Edge data support.

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Supports the creation, accuracy, timeliness, and quality of a wide variety of donor relations and stewardship communications, including personal communications, event collateral as well as custom and targeted impact reports that convey to donors the impact of their giving.
  • Support the creation of new and/or enhanced impact reporting tools and suite of standardized templates with accompanying process documentation to ensure quality, accuracy, and uniformity of reporting by multiple users. Explores digital stewardship solutions in collaboration with other teams.
  • Coordinate processes, systems, and opportunities to ensure donors are thanked by beneficiaries.
  • Routinely monitor and assess processes to improve procedures, reports, tools, and controls in accordance with established guidelines
  • Establish and maintain information-tracking process regarding acknowledgment, recognition, ongoing communications, and continued cultivation for past and current donors across the organization.
  • Participate in planning meetings with solicitors to determine appropriate activities for each donor.
  • Assist with Database clean-up as needed.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Currently working towards a university degree or community college diploma in a related field or equivalent background in fundraising, administrative, communications and/or public relations.
  • Ensures the complete confidentiality of all donor information according to Donor Bills of Rights.
  • Excellent communications skills with an ability to communicate effectively in written correspondence (draft, proof, and edit a range of written materials), over the phone and in-person with donors.
  • Well-developed time management and organization skills with an ability to efficiently manage a diverse range of assignments while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) databases for effective donor tracking and relationship management; Raiser’s Edge experience is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and Canva
  • Strong team player with an ability to work collaboratively as well as autonomously.
  • Competencies include problem-solving, attention to detail, event planning expertise, interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.


Working Conditions: 

  • Your position is Designated with the potential of remote work. This means you will work at least 2 days a week from our Toronto office and the rest of the days remotely/from home. The exact days you are required to work from our office will be determined by your supervisor. This will include in-person meetings, events, retreats and other opportunities to connect and collaborate.
  • Requirement to be flexible and work additional hours to support business needs, where necessary.
