Senior Manager, Major Gifts (Atlantic)

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Executive Director, Atlantic, and working as part of the broader nationwide revenue development team, the Senior Manager, Major Gifts is accountable for securing major gift donors ($10,000+) through the building of strong, effective and long-term major gift relationships with a portfolio of current and potential individual, foundation and corporate donors across the Atlantic provinces (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland & Labrador). This role requires an ambitious and highly motivated, results-oriented self-starter interested in driving change, anticipating trends and thinking outside the box. The Senior Manager brings fundraising and relationship-building experience, a proven track record of meeting goals, leadership skills, a strong work ethic, and commitment to being a strong team player. The Senior Manager juggles multiple deadlines and successfully works in a fast-paced, highly detail-oriented environment to accurately provide executional excellence in donor retention and major gift fundraising to optimize program performance. Works closely with Vice President, Quebec to identify and prioritize French stakeholders across Atlantic region

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Five (5) years of progressive revenue development experience, gained from a similar fundraising environment, working directly and successfully with donors to build giving capacity.
  • Post-secondary education in fundraising, business or a related field.
  • Outstanding relationship-building skills, with demonstrated ability to deliver a high level of customer service to donors, volunteers and other contacts throughout the relationship cycle including cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to use discretion, judgment and tact in handling highly sensitive, confidential information related to donor information.
  • Driven, energetic, self-motivated and results-oriented passionate fundraiser, with a passion for philanthropy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative style with local and nationwide colleagues and stakeholders, both in-person and remotely.
  • Exceptional written, oral and presentation skills. Bilingual (English and French) language skills required.
  • Strong level of comfort and experience with donor databases (Raiser’s Edge experience preferred) and Microsoft Office.
  • AFP membership in good standing.

COVID-19 Vaccinations: 

A requirement of employment at the Arthritis Society is to be and remain fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (including receiving such booster vaccinations as are recommended by provincial or federal health authorities from time-to-time). As such, successful candidates must provide satisfactory proof to the Arthritis Society that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The Arthritis Society will consider, on a case-by-case basis, requests for medical or other exemptions from this requirement based on protected grounds under applicable human rights legislation. Where an exemption is granted, an employee may be required to undergo testing for COVID-19 and demonstrate a negative result at regular intervals to be determined by the Arthritis Society, and at the cost of the individual (subject to applicable law). At the Arthritis Society’s discretion, this vaccination requirement may be extended to apply to such other vaccinations as are required or recommended by provincial or federal health authorities to maintain a safe and healthy workplace and community, including by preventing infectious disease transmission.
