Our Marketing & Communications Team:
Our talented Marketing & Communications team is made up of creative professionals with subject-matter expertise in disciplines including corporate communications, media relations, digital engagement, social media, graphic design and writing. They showcase and increase awareness of our critical cause and the incredible work we do, tell impactful stories and ensure arthritis is positioned as a top 5 health concern.
Purpose of Role:
Reporting to and working closely with the Vice President, Marketing & Communications, and operating as an essential senior member of the nationwide Marketing & Communications team, the Director, Marketing is an enthusiastic and proactive champion of “the art of the possible”, building impactful campaigns one “can-do” step at a time. Owning the opportunity to make arthritis matter to every person in Canada is an energizing and exciting motivator for our Director, each and every day.
Responsible for working collaboratively with teams across Canada, the Director will embody a collaborative spirit of collective success and be a leader in a broad range of marketing activities that shepherd the brand and ensure the proactive creation and maximization of “brand moments”. These opportunities include leadership of event marketing and communications, media and stakeholder relations, and advertising to expand the engagement of all people in Canada with our organization and our cause. Leading talented direct reports in Public Relations and Media Relations as well as Design, the Director models positivity, professionalism and inspires confidence among colleagues at all levels of the organization.
Key Accountabilities:
• Create annual business plan for the marketing team.
• Develop and execute comprehensive and strategic and integrated marketing plans that achieve business objectives across multiple channels including paid, owned, and earned media.
• Leverage the organization's programs and events to proactively identify ways to maximize marketing moments, earned media and partnership opportunities and support sponsorship engagements to increase profile and awareness, engagement, fundraising and donor pipeline growth.
• Analyze data and insights to inform marketing strategies and optimize campaigns in real-time, working with digital colleagues in a “data-first” approach and driving all efforts against pre-determined KPIs.
• Oversee the development of branding and creative assets, working with internal teams and agencies to ensure on-brand, high-quality deliverables that achieve clear goals. Manage budgets for all marketing initiatives, ensuring efficient use of resources to maximize ROI.
• Develop relationships and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners including mission, advocacy, research, revenue development, and associated internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, media, public relations, communications, or a related discipline. MBA or other advanced degree.
• 10+ years in marketing, with at least 3 years in leadership in a comparable role.
• Proven track record of developing and executing successful integrated, omni-channel marketing campaigns.
• Experience building out media plans.
• Excellent understanding of brand strategy and positioning. Experience managing a team of brand marketing professionals.
• Excellent project management and expertise creating and ensuring the application of and adherence to a workback schedule.
• Strong media relations and issues management experience.
• Excellent analytical skills and experience using data to inform marketing decisions.
• Outstanding communication, presentation, and writing skills. Bilingual (English & French) language skills an asset.
• Experience with digital marketing tools and platforms.
Working Conditions:
This position is Designated. This means you will work at least 2 days a week from our Toronto office and the rest of the days remotely/from home. The exact days you are required to work from our office will be determined by your supervisor. This will include in-person meetings, events, retreats and other opportunities to connect and collaborate.
