Associate Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Dalhousie University

Dr. Evelyn Sutton is a Professor of Medicine and Medical Education at Dalhousie University, where she is also the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Medical Education.

She was the Assistant Dean of Admissions for Dalhousie Medicine from 2006 to 2015, Program Director for the rheumatology training program from 1994 to 2005 and before joining the university in a full-time capacity in 1999, spent 10 years in a community-based practice. She was the Rheumatology Division Head and Director of the Nova Scotia Arthritis Centre 2005-2016, is an active member of the Canadian Scleroderma Research Group and is the current Past President of the Canadian Rheumatology Association.

Dr. Sutton’s career has focused primarily on clinical care, medical education and advocacy for patients with arthritis. She has worked with Arthritis Society Canada to convince the provincial government that inflammatory arthritis is a chronic disease. She has received numerous awards for excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. In 2014, she was awarded the Canadian Rheumatology Association Teacher-Educator Award.
