The Arthritis Community Research & Evaluation Unit
The Society provides an annual payment to support ACREU. The Arthritis Community Research & Evaluation Unit (ACREU) was founded in 1991 as an interdisciplinary research unit. Their mission is to explore the impact of arthritis on individuals, their families, communities and on the population at large, in order to further the development of targeted policies and effective interventions. ACREU is the primary source for reliable data on arthritis in Canada. Research includes arthritis and employment, primary care management, access to specialists, joint replacement surgery and rehabilitation service delivery. ACREU's research is carried out in partnership with The Arthritis Society Arthritis Rehabilitation and Education Program, a community-based therapy program in Ontario.
