The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Inflammation in Chronic Disease Signature Initiative

Research Program: Partnership
Funding Period: 2014-2019
Fund Amount: $500,000

The Arthritis Society and Crohn’s and Colitis Canada have partnered with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) on its Inflammation in Chronic Disease Signature Initiative (CIHR-ISI) to co-fund recipients of the CIHR-ISI award.  These projects will guide the development of new ways to diagnose, treat, and manage chronic diseases in which inflammation is a key feature, including arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, asthma, and cardiovascular disease – ultimately improving the care of Canadians affected by these diseases. CIHR has committed up to $22.95 million over a 5-year period to the ISI. Leveraging through partnerships such as these is a great opportunity for The Society to reach its research goals faster.
