The Walk to Fight Arthritis took place in Paradise, NL on Sunday June 4th with 150 participants raising more than $22,200.00!
The Arthritis Society is the largest non-government funder of arthritis research in Canada, investing more than $195 million in projects that have led to breakthroughs in diagnosis, treatment and care for people with arthritis.
And for Paradise Walk Hero Rachel, those funds represent more than a grand total – they represent hope.
“The Walk raises money that goes towards improving the quality for life of the people with this disease, while also working towards finding a cure so that someday no one will struggle to stay in school or keep their job,” explains Rachel. “It’s important for the sole fact that it provides hope and support to people affected by arthritis.”
A high-energy Zumba warm-up with Em-3 Fitness kick-started the event, and the fun didn’t stop. There were amazing door prizes, and lots of activities for the kids including balloon animals, face-painting, a bouncy castle, and craft station. The top fundraising prize went to 10-year old Mya who lives with JIA and raised nearly $5000.00!
