Local physiotherapist helping those with Arthritis

September 1, 2017

Trevor DonaldA long-time partnership between The Arthritis Society and a local physiotherapist continues to be a win for people with arthritis in Saskatchewan.

Trevor Donald, who together with wife Michelle runs Donald Physiotherapy in Saskatoon and Davidson, has been involved with The Society as a volunteer, a team captain in the Walk to Fight Arthritis and guest lecturer at education forums.  He says a large portion of his clientele lives with arthritis, but his motivation to team up with us runs deeper than that.

“As part of our assessment and treatment of arthritic conditions, we do a substantial amount of hands-on treatment and exercise prescription,” explains Trevor, a 15-year physiotherapist who also teaches at the College of Medicine and School of Physical Therapy at the University of Saskatchewan.

Trevor believes self-management of arthritis is one of the key components of the treatment philosophy at Donald Physiotherapy – something that is complete alignment with our philosophy at The Arthritis Society.

“For us, it’s a great partnership that allows us to provide people with a full package of management options and information related to their arthritis.  Between the two of us, we create a welcoming support system for people who need it.”

Deb Donaldson, Regional Manager in The Society’s Saskatoon office, says Trevor and Michelle are always quick to support local initiatives, including event sponsorship and health and wellness promotions.

“We appreciate their passion for teaching and working with people to promote arthritis self-management. Their knowledge and commitment is just unbelievable.”

Trevor Donald will again be a guest presenter at the 2017 Arthritis Symposium on November 18 in Saskatoon. Registration is open at arthritis.ca/sk.
