The Arthritis Society’s Ease-of-Use program was designed to celebrate and recognize the ingenuity of designers and innovators who are creating products designed to accommodate the everyday challenges of life with arthritis. An independent expert tests the products to ensure that their design makes them easier for people with arthritis to hold, use, or interact with. Qualifying companies receive The Arthritis Society’s Ease-of-Use certification for their product, and can promote their product as being arthritis-friendly.
Milgard Windows and Doors and Duracell have recently renewed their Ease-of-Use certification, reinforcing their commitment to delivering products made for the arthritis consumer.
Duracell’s EasyTab Hearing Aid Batteries have longer tabs, making them easier to handle. The packaging is easy to open and the batteries are colour-coded so they are easy to identify. “By nature hearing aid batteries need to be small, which can make them difficult to use,” says Peter Gorzkowski, director of marketing and commercial operations at Duracell. “We created Duracell EasyTab batteries to make the experience of holding, replacing and removing our batteries as simple and stress-free as possible, ensuring that people who suffer from hearing loss stay connected with their loved ones and not miss out on key moments in life.”
Another innovative product comes to us from Milgard Windows & Doors. The Milgard SmartTouch® Lock system is an industry first and is secure and easy to use. The system makes it easy for people to operate the lock and open or close their window with one hand. “Getting fresh air shouldn’t be a burden,” says Jeremiah Noneman, Milgard’s director of marketing. “We are proud to be the first company to bring SmartTouch® Lock technology to the marketplace for people living with restricted mobility.”
