This summer, The Arthritis Society is proud to introduce Camp Cambria, the first summer camp in Ontario to support children and youth who are living with arthritis. Made possible through the generous sponsorship of Cambria, Camp Cambria will welcome 100 kids aged 8-17 at Camp Maple Leaf, a not-for-profit sleepover camp for children with unique challenges, in the popular Kawartha Lakes cottage country.
From August 21-26, the kids will enjoy an action-packed summer in a fun and supportive environment. In addition to traditional camp activities, Camp Cambria will provide important tools and resources related to positive self-esteem and effective disease management. An on-site medical facility will ensure that campers’ health needs are met.
There are 24,000 youth living with childhood arthritis in Canada, roughly half of whom live in Ontario. This camp joins similar programs offered by The Arthritis Society in BC, Quebec, and Nova Scotia.
