Nearly 70 years ago, patient rights advocate Mary Pack worked with Dr. Wallace Graham to launch the organization that grew into The Arthritis Society. Last month, during National Volunteer Week, we honoured Mary’s pioneering spirit by celebrating exceptional volunteers who have helped make a difference for people with arthritis in Ontario.
These are true ambassadors of The Society’s five core values: Integrity, Passionate Commitment, Spirited Teamwork, Bold Innovation, and Courageous Leadership.
The 2016-2017 winners of our Mary Pack Volunteer Awards of Excellence are:
- Spirited Teamwork – Frank Miele
- Courageous Leadership – Lisa Dale
- Passionate Commitment – Rachelle Chauvin
- Bold Innovation – Eric Racine
- Integrity – Sandra Duggin
Volunteers are integral to the success of our mission, as explained in our president and CEO Janet Yale’s open letter to volunteers for National Volunteer Week. A friendly face and an extra set of hands help make it possible for The Arthritis Society to provide leadership and funding for research, advocacy, and solutions to improve the quality of life for Canadians affected by arthritis.
We congratulate and thank our winners, and all of our incredible volunteers for your passion and dedication. Thank you for making lives better!
