How to Protect Your New Joint
You were probably given a list of "precautions" in the hospital - things you should and shouldn't do after knee or hip replacement surgery. This is a good time to review them.
Such precautions are normally followed for six to eight weeks after surgery. Ask your surgeon for specific advice about your own situation.
IMPORTANT: Don't panic if you suddenly realize you haven't followed one of your knee or hip precautions. It isn't likely that you have harmed yourself. Just try not to do the same thing again.
