Leisure and sports activities
Staying physically active after ankle replacement surgery is important, but you still need to protect your new ankle joint. Your surgeon will tell you what is considered safe.
In general, you should avoid "high impact, high contact" activities like running, jogging and playing contact sports. These place heavy and frequent strain on your ankles and carry a greater risk for injury. Instead, focus on enjoyable “low impact, low contact” activities such as walking, swimming, golf and cycling.
